Slab built porcelain clay houses

I’m in my first pottery art show and it’s coming up in a couple of weeks! Yay, rah rah rah. I took a quick shot of some of the pieces I finished tonight to go in the last batch for bisque firing in the kiln. This picture is essentially, the little clay houses in their “greenware” stage

Featured Artist – Emmalyne on Etsy

Emmalyne (aka Emmy Ludwig) is a photographing artist on Etsy. She has a love for taking everyday common objects and making them into a beautiful, soulful photograph. I love these two photographs she has captured with her smart eye. These two photos are hauntingly evocative of something… almost bordering creepy. This is something I love, because they are also completely innocent shots taken with observation. Simply beautiful.

More Clay Faces

Practice, practice! Just playing around with a new clay head I shaped… I like painting and drawing on the face the best. That’s when it starts to have more of a character (or caricature about it).

She writes that they are like “tiny prayers for a home.” A beautiful sentiment, that Anne knows from personal experience. This is one of my favorite pieces she has memorialized as a ring.
